Parallel to the construction of the first series-production vehicle frame, all the visible surfaces in the interior of the TWIKE 5 are currently being defined.

The prerequisite for this was the assured ergonomics of seat adjustment, range of movement of the steering levers and accessibility of all operating functions required while driving.

Particularly in the area of the dashboard, it was necessary to clad the supporting structure under and behind the visible surfaces and also to use this sensibly for the connection of the cladding and the operating elements. In addition to the load paths of the vehicle frame structure, the distribution of fresh and warm air to the intended air vents required the most demanding installation space, as this must not be disturbed as much as possible as a continuous air volume in the cross-section. The air, which is cleaned in an activated charcoal filter, flows into the interior centrally at the root line of the windshield, at two adjustable flap nozzles in the footwell and at equally adjustable air vents on the sides of the dashboard.

We have aligned the touch-enabled main display centrally to the pilot with the final adjustment of the upper diagonal struts. We have positioned robust and deliberately visible tubular structures for attaching your own bring-in devices (GPS, smartphone, pad). At the front end of the roof console, which integrates the rain sensor as well as a control panel for opening the hoods and side windows, there is a 12V connection for connecting a dashcam, for example.

The challenge for the entire design lay in the extreme compactness of the space while at the same time taking into account all envelope curves (space required by moving components or bodies) from the operation (foot, leg and arm movements). Every cubic centimeter must be used sensibly – efficiency is the maxim of the TWIKE 5, and this applies down to the smallest detail. For this reason, all structural components under the surface had to be secured first. In addition to the glass surfaces and intentionally inconspicuous yet elegant anodized aluminium, a fine-meshed carbon and Alcantara are to support the controls and partially cover the structures behind them.

We are looking forward to your feedback!
