TORQUE, the English term for torque, with the addition of XTRA in the TWIKE 5 stands for the option of unlocking higher performance in the lower and upper speed range.

Even the basic version of the TWIKE 5 accelerates effortlessly and feels like it is being pulled along on an endless rubber band. This is due to the low weight in combination with a powerful drive, which can easily propel even vehicles three times its weight. The available power is therefore completely sufficient for normal everyday use. However, the hidden reserves further increase the robustness of the vehicle as designed.

However, it was also exciting for the developers right from the start to sound out the physical limits of the new TWIKE and to gain valuable impulses for optimization from these findings. For example, with maximum torque, it is possible to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds – the slip on the tires is the only limit. A higher top speed can also be achieved with higher torque in the upper speed range. And even then, only around 63% of the possible maximum of the electric motor is utilized. Nevertheless, the motor is limited at 190 km/h for reasons of common sense.

Despite the extra acceleration, robustness should not suffer either, which was achieved. Even at the higher torques in XTRA TORQUE mode, only around 63% of the maximum possible torque of the selected electric motor is utilized.
