Twike GmbH has been producing the Twike 3, a tricycle that combines an electric motor and pedal drive, for 25 years. Now the technically optimized successor, the Twike 5, is to be financed via the company’s own investment platform. Unlike its predecessor, the pedals no longer drive the vehicle directly, but generate electrical energy via a generator, which charges the battery while driving. The two-person vehicle, which weighs less than 500 kg, is designed to reach speeds of up to 190 km/h and is therefore fully suitable for highway use.
The capital raised will be used to expand production and develop the Twike 5. In parallel to the Twike 5, work is being carried out on the technically closely related Twike 6, which will be slightly less powerful but less expensive. The Twike 5 is currently in the final development phase and has already been pre-ordered by over 1,000 customers without obligation.
