The alternative car summit briefly explained
The German government and car manufacturers have met frequently at car summits in recent years. Shortly before the elections for the new Bundestag in 2021, an alternative car summit was held in Hilden on September 4. Several people were invited who have been working intensively on electromobility for years. Prof. Dr. Andreas Knie from the Berlin Science Center unfortunately did not arrive on time due to the rail strike, futurologist Morell Westermann from Switzerland and Peter Wüstnienhaus, who is responsible for e-mobility research funding at DLR. E-mobility pioneers such as Dr. Uwe Koenzen from classic eCars and Martin Möscheid, Managing Director of TWIKE, came from the corporate world. Well-known Youtubers such as Ove Kröger and Antonino Zeidler and other active members of the diverse e-car scene also made an appearance.

Goal
In a catalog of e-expectations, the Alternative Car Summit will provide the new German government with recommendations for action. The meeting at what will be Europe’s largest charging park at the Hilden freeway junction near Düsseldorf is also intended to draw attention to the Bundestag candidacy of Roland Schüren, the operator of the charging park and one of the most prominent e-mobilists in Germany.

Debatten
- One million electric cars – but not the right vehicles? (With Martin Möscheid from min. 36)
- Building a charging infrastructure for electric cars with fossil-based thinking? –
- How do we reach people who distrust electromobility? –
- What contribution do electric cars make to climate protection and quality of life in urban and rural areas?
