The engineer: SKELTER FOR ON THE MOTORWAY

Taking a pedal car onto the highway sounds like a ¬dead man's ride, but not so with the Twike 5. This human-electric hybrid tricycle is equipped with a safety cage for its occupants and reaches speeds of up to 190 km/h.

Driving a pedal car on the highway sounds like a trip into the void, but not with the Twike 5. This three-wheeled hybrid vehicle with electric drive is equipped with a safety cage for the occupants and can reach speeds of up to 190 km/h.

Nach jahrelanger Entwicklung plant das deutsche Unternehmen FINE Mobile GmbH nun den Bau des Dreirads in einer limitierten Auflage von fünfhundert Stück.

The Twike 5 is a kind of fitness machine on wheels. As the rider, you sit slightly tilted back in the seat and your feet rest on two pedals. Pedaling recharges the batteries and keeps you fitter. If you have a passenger with you, they can also get going straight away, as both seats are equipped with pedals.

STREAMLINED SHAPE

When pedaling, handlebars can quickly get in the way of your knees. That’s why the Twike 5 is equipped with two steering levers; one to the left and one to the right of the rider. The 495 kg vehicle can be steered through bends by moving the levers forwards or backwards.

It is 3.04 meters long, 1.55 meters wide and 1.25 meters high.

A practical disadvantage of the three-wheeled vehicle is that the front wheel, together with the steering, takes up all the space in the front. As a result, luggage space is limited. This is compensated for by a very streamlined shape, which helps to reduce energy consumption.

RANGE OF UP TO 500 KILOMETERS

The Twike 5 will be available with different battery packs, from three to six batteries, for different mobility needs. The basic version has a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a range of 150 to 250 kilometers. Of course, this depends on a variety of factors, such as speed, gradients, weather conditions and how actively you pedal yourself.

With six batteries on board, the tricycle has a range of 300 to 500 kilometers and reaches 190 kilometers per hour, but you have to practice first. The software only activates this option after 5,000 kilometers have been driven.
