What format does the TWIKE 3 license plate have?
The prescribed license plate for class L5e has the format (hxw) 200×180 or 200×220 and our preferred Velcro attachment is now permitted. Individual deviations from this standard are possible.
TÜV, MAIN INSPECTION, APPRAISAL
Germany
The TWIKE 3 must be presented for a general inspection every two years. It is best to combine the date of the main inspection with an annual service. This has the advantage that the TWIKE is thoroughly checked again before the MOT and defects are rectified in advance. In addition, the inspector, who is in contact with the respective TWIKE workshop, has more experience in dealing with the TWIKE.
Switzerland
New vehicles must visit the road traffic office for the first time after 5 years. Thereafter, checks are carried out every 2 years.
DRIVER LICENCE
Germany
The TWIKE 3 is considered a three-wheeled motor vehicle> 45 km/h) in the EU and can be driven with a German class B or class 3 (old) driving license obtained before 19.1.2013 , even with a trailer. When exchanging for the check card, this is expressed by the key numbers 79.03 and 79.04 for A1 and A.
A category B driving license acquired from 19.1.2013 also allows the driving of three-wheeled motor vehicles, but only in Germany (key number 194). However, if the motor vehicle has an engine power of more than 15 kW, this authorization is only valid if the holder of the driving license is at least 21 years old.
Class A1 (minimum age 16) also allows the driving of TWIKEs with up to 15 kW (TWIKE 3 & TWIKE 5 with 14.9 kW), while class A also allows the driving of TWIKEs with more than 15 kW (TWIKE 5 with 15.1 kW). However, motorcycle driving licenses (A, A1) may not be used to drive a TWIKE with a trailer.

Switzerland
The TWIKE 3 may be driven with driving license class A or B.
The TWIKE 3 (with 3 kW rated power and a speed limit of 45 km/h) can be ridden from the age of 15 with driving license category A1.

Belgium
TWIKE pilots need a category A (for motorcycles) or B (for cars) driver’s license, but only on condition that they have obtained their B license before 2011.

Luxembourg
Category A

Category A1
The category A1 driving license entitles the holder to drive light and tricycles with an engine power of up to 15 kW from the age of 16.
