What operating costs/maintenance intervals are expected for the TWIKE 5?
Today’s TWIKE 3 already has a service life of over 20 years. We are aiming for at least the same quality and durability for the TWIKE 5. The TWIKE 5 mainly uses components from the automotive industry, which means that a long service life and low maintenance requirements can be expected. Even more demanding service work should be possible in generally approved master workshops (car or motorcycle), provided a qualified electrician is on site. The design of the TWIKE 5 is geared more towards ease of servicing and repair. In the event of an accident, a distinction is made between at least 3 levels, which have different levels of protection.
Is it realistic to drive 45,000 km within 3 years without having to go to the garage for an inspection in between?
30,000 km – 50,000 km are now realistic and are also targeted as an interval.
Can minor maintenance problems (changing tires, replacing bulbs, greasing, oiling, etc.) be carried out without a workshop?
Changing wheels (e.g. to winter wheels) will be possible in the garage at home. Changing a tire, on the other hand, is similar to changing a car tire. Without the appropriate tools, you will not be able to mount the tire properly on the rim. The lights will be complete LED headlights. It should be assumed that these will not break during the vehicle’s service life or otherwise be replaced as a complete unit. Oiling or greasing should not be necessary. The smaller maintenance measures (correcting the windshield water level, maintaining the rubber seal) can be carried out easily by yourself.
Where can major maintenance problems be dealt with?
We also aim to have more demanding service work carried out in generally approved master workshops (car or motorcycle). Various tasks require the qualification of an electrician. However, we assume that these will soon also be common in normal workshops.
Do normal garages have the possibility to drive a three-wheeled vehicle onto a lift?
Yes, the vehicle’s support points for changing tires, for example, can be easily reached and supported by conventional lifts (2-post, stamp or even motorcycle lifts).
Is the front wheel of the TWIKE 5 easy to remove?
Yes, the front wheel is a standard passenger car wheel and is similarly easy to remove. Only the front fairing has to be removed. However, this will also be easy to do (e.g. in the event of a tire puncture during a tour on the road).
Can the TWIKE 5 be repaired more cheaply than the TWIKE 3 in the event of an accident?
The design of the TWIKE 5 is geared more towards ease of service and repair. In the event of an accident, a distinction is made between at least 3 levels, which have different levels of protection and also result in different repair costs.
What is the estimated service life of the TWIKE 5?
Today’s TWIKE 3 already has a service life of over 20 years. We are aiming for at least the same quality and durability for the TWIKE 5.
How high is the ground clearance of the TWIKE 5?
The TWIKE 5 has a sufficient ground clearance of 13 cm. The height of the front spoiler will be adapted to practical requirements as part of the rider trials. However, it will also be designed as an inexpensive, easily replaceable spare part.
Was ist ein “free lifetime Service (FLT)”?
Until December 2021, we are offering a lifetime free TWIKE service for down payments of 10,000 euros or more. More info in this article.
Is the FLT transferable?
Yes, because an associated service checkbook is supplied with each corresponding vehicle.
30 (or 20) checks can be detached from this checkbook and used to pay for the service at the participating partner.
A new owner takes over the vehicle with the associated checkbook.
