Kronen Zeitung: Pedal-powered 200 km/h pedal car: The Twike 5 goes into series production!

Als Kinder haben wir es geliebt, in einem Tretauto oder auf einem Kettcar zu fahren. Achtung, jetzt wird’s nostalgisch: So etwas kommt jetzt in groß auf den Markt – in Form des Twike 5, der jetzt in Serie geht. Anders als früher fährt man mit diesem Tretmobil aber nicht der Mami hinterher, sondern – elektrisch unterstützt – mit bis zu knapp 200 km/h über die Autobahn! Ob man das will, ist eine andere Frage.

The TWIKE 5 has been quiet in recent times. At least on Elektroauto-News.net. Reason enough for us to take a look at the current development/series status of the e-vehicle. Because like the car manufacturers on the market, TWIKE is also struggling with the effects on the market. This became apparent last summer when the 18650 battery cell selected for the e-vehicle was discontinued from one day to the next without any prior notice.

Mobility Mag: E-vehicle with pedal drive and 550 km range

One of Germany’s most innovative electric vehicles comes from the provinces: FINE Mobile GmbH has been developing TWIKE in Rosenthal near Marburg since 2002. A mixture of cargo bike, racing car and electric car. The latest model, TWIKE 5 – “half a Tesla with twice the driving fun” – is now set to go into series production.

Elektroauto-News.net: TWIKE record range (>500 km) at eRUDA

At the 1st eRUDA, Wolfgang Möscheid, works driver of the TWIKE manufacturer, achieved a range of 510 km in eleven laps. The challenger Robert Häring in the Tesla Roadster from Hering Solar finished the competition after nine laps and 418 kilometres.
