Yes. Configuration changes are possible until your vehicle enters production. After that point, modifications may no longer be possible.

Yes. The TWIKE 5 can be charged with solar energy if your system provides AC output via a Type 2 plug. Many owners combine it with home photovoltaic systems.

Yes. The enclosed cabin, efficient heating, and traction systems make the TWIKE 5 suitable for winter and cold-weather driving. More about TWIKE 5 and driving in winter here.

TWIKE occasionally offers investment opportunities or community participation models. Investors receive updates when new rounds open.

TWIKE vehicles are generally designed with a focus on repairability. Specific rules regarding self-performed maintenance and authorized service work for the TWIKE 5 will be communicated prior to delivery.

The fitting of snow chains is still under review. In our assessment they will not be technically necessary, as good rear-axle traction combined with fine-resolution traction control (deltaV < 0.1 km/h) makes them redundant under normal winter conditions.

Yes. The TWIKE 5’s support points are compatible with standard 2-post, pillar, and motorcycle lifts. No special equipment is required.

Yes. The side windows lower electrically, and the fabric roof over the head area can be completely removed without tools. Cabrio beams integrated into the hood frame allow quick attachment and stretching of the fabric roof. With the roof removed and windows down, the only overhead element is the central roll-bar strut.

Yes. The TWIKE 5 is designed as a two-seater with adjustable seating and space for luggage.

Germany
The TWIKE 5 is classified in the EU as a three-wheeled motor vehicle (> 45 km/h) and can be driven with a German driver’s license of class  B  or class 3 (old) obtained before January 19, 2013, also with a trailer. When exchanging the license for the credit card format, this is indicated by the codes 79.03 and 79.04 for categories A1 and A

A Class B driving licence acquired on or after 19 January 2013  also permits the driving of three-wheeled motor vehicles, but only in Germany (code 194). However, if the motor vehicle has an engine power of more than 15 kW, this authorization is only valid if the licence holder is at least 21 years old.

The  A1 license (minimum age 16) also permits driving TWIKEs with up to 15 kW (TWIKE 3 & TWIKE 5 with 14.9 kW), while the  A license permits driving TWIKEs with more than 15 kW (TWIKE 5 with 15.1 kW). However, motorcycle licenses (A, A1) do not allow driving TWIKEs with trailers.

In Switzerland,
the TWIKE 3 and TWIKE 5 can be driven with a driving licence class A or B.

The TWIKE 3 (with 3 kW nominal power and a speed limit of 45 km/h) allows driving from the age of 15 with driving licence category A1.

TWIKE 5 requires Class A or B from age 17 with a learner’s permit.

Austria:
The driving licence of class B always includes driving a TWIKE 5.

Motor vehicles with 3 wheels and more than 15 kW of power may be driven from the age of 21 (but only in Austria).

Belgian
TWIKE 5 drivers require a Class A (for motorcycles) or Class B (for cars) driver’s license. However, for Class B licenses, the requirement is that the license was obtained before 2011.

Luxembourg
Category A

A category A driving licence entitles the holder to drive motorcycles and tricycles. Prior to obtaining a category A licence, at least two years of driving experience on a category A2 motorcycle is required. The minimum age for driving category A tricycles is 21. 

Category A1

The category A1 driving licence entitles the holder to drive light and three-wheeled vehicles with an engine power of up to 15 kW from the age of 16

In France,
the A1 driving licence allows you to drive a three-wheeler with a maximum power output of 15 kW from the age of 16.

A category B driving licence entitles the holder to drive a motorized two- or three-wheeler, provided several conditions are met (training, duration of the category B licence, age).

No. The left steering lever is mounted low enough that your feet pass in front of it when entering. The hips swing over it naturally when sitting down. A video animation explaining the entry process is planned.

For customers who participated in the Free Lifetime TWIKE Service (FLT) program offered until December 2021 for down payments of €10,000 or more, service benefits are also linked to the vehicle. Eligible services performed at participating partners are reimbursed accordingly. Each vehicle is assigned a service booklet, which is transferred together with the vehicle in the event of a change of ownership.

According to the current development status, the TWIKE 5 has achieved a drag coefficient of less than 0.22 in virtual wind tunnel simulations. This places it among the most aerodynamic road vehicles and contributes significantly to its high energy efficiency.

The aerodynamic design has been optimized through extensive simulation and development work. Final certified values may be confirmed as development progresses.

TWIKE vehicles are designed for long-term use. Many components are repairable, reusable, or recyclable, helping to reduce resource consumption over the vehicle’s lifetime.

The batteries used in TWIKE vehicles are intended for long-term operation. When a battery reaches the end of its service life, it is recycled using established industrial processes that recover valuable raw materials such as cobalt, nickel, and copper.

For the TWIKE 5, it is planned—following the concept of the TWIKE 3—to allow the retrofitting of additional batteries. This modular approach supports flexibility, extended usability, and long-term sustainability.

TWIKE SERVICE partners are certified automotive technicians (or equivalent) who offer technical service and warranty work. Requirements: at least one certified EV technician on staff. TWIKE provides free initial training. All required tools are typically already available in a standard workshop. A demo vehicle is desirable but not mandatory. Apply on our website.

You can order the TWIKE 5 through the official TWIKE Reservation Hub. After choosing your configuration, you receive a binding reservation and all next steps by email.

The TWIKE 5 offers an ergonomic seating position, adjustable controls, and a smooth and quiet electric driving experience.

You can charge the TWIKE 5 at home or public stations using a standard Type 2 plug. It supports both AC home charging and public wallboxes.

Used TWIKE 3 vehicles are rare as most owners are enthusiasts who rarely sell. A good used TWIKE 3 with battery starts from approximately €9,000. Without batteries: €8,000–€9,000. A new battery adds from €4,500. Contact TWIKE directly — we assist in finding available vehicles.

Entry works exactly as with a car. The side windows lower electrically, allowing the driver to reach ticket machines or barrier controls from inside. No special modifications are needed.

The pedal system allows the driver to feed human power directly into the drivetrain, complementing the electric motor and creating an active, efficient driving experience.

The TWIKE 5’s electric motor provides high torque, ensuring smooth climbing and energy recovery during descents.

By encouraging active driving, using clean energy, and maintaining efficient design, TWIKE contributes to low-emission transportation.

Depending on the chosen battery configuration, the TWIKE 5 can achieve between 300 and 600 km per full charge. Driving style, terrain, and weather conditions may influence range.

The TWIKE 5 reaches a top speed of around 190 km/h, depending on setup and conditions, and is suitable for highway use.

The TWIKE 5 is legally classified as an L5e vehicle under EU regulations (three-wheeled motor vehicles). It comes with EU type approval and can be registered directly using the provided Certificate of Conformity (COC).

At present, we cannot provide precise or complete figures for the CO₂ footprint or total energy required to manufacture a TWIKE vehicle. A full life-cycle assessment depends on complex data from multiple suppliers, which is not always fully available.

However, a key factor in the environmental impact of any vehicle is its overall weight and material usage.

• The TWIKE 3 is significantly lighter than conventional electric cars.

• The TWIKE 5 has an approximate vehicle weight of around 685 kg, which is still considerably lower than most electric vehicles in its class.

Lower vehicle weight generally means less material required for production and lower energy demand during manufacturing, as well as improved efficiency during use. While this does not replace a full CO₂ assessment, it provides a meaningful comparative indicator.

No. The TWIKE 5 is designed with enhanced ergonomics that support natural, intuitive movement—even with its joystick steering system. Most drivers quickly feel comfortable and adapt within minutes.

Yes. The front wheel is a standard car wheel and dismounts easily. Only the front fairing needs to be removed first — this is also possible roadside in the event of a puncture.

The reservation fee is refundable under defined conditions, which are explained during the booking process.

Yes. The TWIKE 5 is fully highway-legal and engineered for safe and stable high-speed driving.

The TWIKE 5 is designed for both active and passive safety. A low center of gravity and optimized suspension ensure stable, confident handling, while responsive braking supports safe control.

For protection, it features a crash-optimized aluminum frame with an integrated three-point seatbelt system, developed using automotive safety standards and simulations.

Yes. The TWIKE 5 is equipped with adequately dimensioned brake components for full braking or repeated braking maneuvers. The low and correctly positioned center of gravity ensures high tipping stability. An ABV (anti-lock braking prevention) system is also included, controlled via recuperation at the rear axle rather than hydraulics.

Yes. Based on ergonomic studies already conducted, people up to 2 meters tall fit well in the TWIKE 5 and have a suitable viewing angle through the windshield past the sun visor. Persons taller than 2 m may also fit, depending on torso-to-leg-length ratio.

Yes. The enclosed cockpit protects against rain, wind, and cold, making it suitable for all-weather driving.

Yes. The roll-over structure of the TWIKE 5 is metallic and sufficiently conductive, making the outer structure a Faraday cage. Lightning strikes follow the path of least resistance through the aluminum base frame and then to the ground via the wheels.

Each TWIKE generation reflects a different stage in the evolution of the TWIKE concept and targets a distinct user group.

The TWIKE 3 represents the long-established foundation of the TWIKE concept, focusing on efficiency, lightweight design, and everyday usability.

The TWIKE 5 is a high-performance, limited-edition model (around 500 vehicles). It serves as a technological “icebreaker,” introducing new developments in performance, aerodynamics, and system integration. The TWIKE 5 targets experienced users and early adopters and is produced in a deliberately limited series.

The TWIKE 6 is planned as the subsequent higher-volume consumer model, building on the core concept and experience gained from the TWIKE 5. It is intended to offer broader accessibility, optimized cost structures, and suitability for a wider market.

The TWIKE 5 sets new cornering standards in the three-wheeler class. The chassis is tuned to lateral stability comparable to a sporty mid-size sedan, achieved through a very low center of gravity (positioned close to the rear axle) and a camber-active rear axle that provides both lateral guidance and roll support.

The TWIKE 3 has been in service for over 20 years with many vehicles still operating. TWIKE targets at least the same durability for the TWIKE 5. Automotive-grade components, a design focused on repairability, and planned spare parts availability beyond 20 years support this goal.

TWIKE is a human-electric hybrid vehicle that combines pedal power with efficient electric drive. It promotes sustainable, active mobility with low energy consumption.

The TWIKE 5 uses high-efficiency lithium-ion battery cells known for energy density, safety, and long life.

The TWIKE 5 targets a maintenance interval of 30,000–50,000 km — comparable to the automotive industry standard. Predominantly automotive-grade components are used, ensuring high longevity and low maintenance needs. The design is explicitly optimized for repairability. Most service work can be performed at standard certified workshops with an EV-qualified technician.

TWIKE vehicles use lightweight materials, efficient electric motors, and a design that minimizes environmental impact from production to operation.

If a component stops working, contact a TWIKE service partner for diagnosis. Many issues can be quickly identified through the onboard system and resolved by a technician.

We are aware of the impact of using critical raw materials in our vehicles. This includes not only the mining of lithium and cobalt, but also the extraction of aluminum and petroleum-based plastics. Our current approach is to avoid critical materials as much as possible, or to use them only to the absolute minimum through intelligent lightweight construction. However, a complete elimination of these materials or switching to technologies not yet available to us is not currently feasible. Nevertheless, we will continuously monitor this issue out of our own initiative and substitute the materials we use as soon as possible.

Delivery depends on your place in the reservation list and production progress. You will receive estimated timelines as your configuration approaches production.

Rear: the best lifting points are the stabilizer mounts on the chassis tube. Front — depending on what is being worked on: at the front wheel, at the tow hook (under the nose), or at the fork. Use wooden spacers where needed to bridge the gap between the floor pan and chassis tube.

Arrival by electric vehicle or conventional car:
If you are coming from the direction of Marburg, please be aware of a speed camera in a 30 km/h zone in the last village before Rosenthal (7.5 km, Bracht).
The best place to park is directly in our courtyard or along the street. The entrance to the factory is to the left of the roller gate.
Electric vehicles are welcome to charge at our facility. We have several charging points with CEE 16A red connectors on our premises. 100 meters further on, at the Schleiter gas station, there are several charging stations with Type 2 connectors.

Arrival with caravan / motorhome:
You can find motorhome pitches in Rosenthal here , and another one is located in Gemünden (about 10 minutes away by car) here .

Arrival by public transport:
We recommend entering “Rosenthal, Feldgasse 6” as your destination on bahn.de. Alternatively, you can use the on-demand shared taxi service to reach us from Frankenberg (Eder) or Ernsthausen train stations.

LED headlights are sealed units designed to last the vehicle’s lifetime; if replacement is needed, the full unit must be swapped. Windshield washer fluid and rubber seal care can be done by the owner. Oiling or greasing is generally not required.
