TWIKE 5 – Let’s wrap!

A TWIKE isn’t just about fitness, mobility and sustainability – it’s also about individuality. A subtle sporty stripe, a custom colour in your company’s corporate identity, or even a bespoke digital print featuring your favourite design! A wrap makes all this possible. Let’s wrap!

Even in its ‘standard look’, a TWIKE is a real eye-catcher. But a custom colour scheme really makes all the difference. It allows you to highlight the features and the overall impression that are personally important to you. It makes every TWIKE one of a kind!

Do you have any comments or perhaps a question? Please post them using the comment function below. We look forward to hearing from you and will be happy to reply. We have already received the following questions:

What is the base colour of the TWIKE without the wrap?

The outer skin of the TWIKE 5 is made of deep-drawn plastic. Viewed up close, the solid-coloured surface is clearly visible beneath a transparent protective layer, whilst from a distance the matt surface appears anthracite. The base colour of all metallic structural components and interior trim is matt black.

Which parts of the TWIKE 5 can be wrapped? What are the benefits of wrapping?

In principle, all exterior surfaces of the TWIKE can be fully covered with decals. However, the idea is to use a few pre-cut decals to create a personalised colour scheme, to produce a warning effect with eye-catching colours, and to protect surfaces in areas prone to scratches. The decals can therefore be changed time and again over the coming years, ensuring that the TWIKE always looks up-to-date.

Have any final decisions been made regarding the exterior design as part of the cw optimisations? The film? The colour? If film is used, will this be supplied by the customer or by a fabrication company?

There will be further rounds of optimisation regarding the design until the moulding tools are finalised. However, these changes are not expected to be significant, as we are already very satisfied with the current solution. As for the film wrapping, there will be samples to choose from when ordering, which will be fitted before delivery. However, we want to offer as much freedom as possible here, and we will also make the plot patterns (for pre-cutting the film) and information on suitable film materials publicly available.

What colours are available? Which film cut is included in the standard package?

When you order the vehicle, we will suggest a basic selection of colours and possible body styles. As standard, the bonnet, side panels, wings and rear panel will be wrapped in film. We are happy to assess the feasibility of any requests that deviate from this proposal and will implement them at no extra cost where possible. We will also make the surfaces available to any third-party suppliers, so that custom wrapping can be carried out cost-effectively with other partners.

Which films are recommended, and which film manufacturers are used or recommended?

For optimal and long-lasting results on our components, we recommend selecting the film material according to the intended application:

  • PET films: The ideal choice for color changes and visual enhancements. They are free of plasticizers, more environmentally sustainable than PVC, and, thanks to their material rigidity, provide an extremely smooth surface with a “paint-like gloss” on flat or slightly curved components.
  • TPU films (PPF): The best option when maximum mechanical protection is the priority, such as superior stone-chip protection on the front section and self-healing properties against minor scratches.

Manufacturer independence:
In principle, we are manufacturer-independent. All well-established branded films can be used, provided that their adhesive systems (typically solvent-based polyacrylates) are compatible with unpainted plastic surfaces.

Our best experiences in terms of application quality and residue-free removal have been with the premium product lines from 3M, Avery Dennison, Hexis, and Orafol (Oracal), as well as specialized suppliers such as XPEL and STEK.
