TWIKE GmbH, born on 20.02.1998 in Munich

Once upon a time, 25 years ago… No, stop, wait… the TWIKE was born back in 1986 in Gelterkinden in the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft. About 9 years later, series production began in French-speaking Travers in the canton of Neuchâtel. While the first vehicle exports to Germany were still carried out by the then Swiss manufacturer TWIKE AG itself, the German service partners organized themselves as a general importer at the beginning of 1998 and have since been trading as FINE Mobile GmbH. The combination of letters stood for the Forum for Intelligent and Sustainable Electric Vehicles and was intended to facilitate the import of further European light electric vehicles. On the day the company was founded 25 years ago, the five partners were not yet aware that TWIKE would remain the only vehicle in all those years. After taking over production, the GmbH, founded in 1998, moved to Rosenthal in Hesse and included the TWIKE brand in its name.
