With up to six batteries, the upcoming TWIKE 5 is set to surpass the record distance of 613 km already achieved by the TWIKE 3.
The electronically adjustable pedal generator in the TWIKE 5 mutates from a range extender to a life extender. This is because “regular physical exercise lowers the risk of chronic diseases, contributes to mental well-being and reduces mortality”, according to a unanimous consensus in scientific articles on this topic.
Flax fibers have numerous ecological advantages and a low impact on the environment. In the TWIKE 5, we use this renewable raw material for the outer skin and the sporty seat shells.
Good news: The TWIKE 5 mirrors are now legally protected. These mirror glasses are specially modified for the TWIKE 5 and therefore allow an optimum rear view far behind the vehicle. And last but not least, the mirrors do not need to be folded in when parking in tight spaces.
The most important ingredients for high energy efficiency in a vehicle are low weight, the smallest possible frontal area and a minimized cd value. But what about the efficiency of the electrical components, e.g. motor, inverter and battery?
The concept phase cost us a lot of energy and took longer than we had initially allowed ourselves. However, the result is impressive and we are proud of what we have already achieved and of the excellent cooperation between our development team and the support of our suppliers. With this momentum, we are now entering the next, no less challenging phase – series development.
Shortly before completion of the concept phase we would like to us already known effects on the design of the exterior surfaces highlighted. However, the surfaces are therefore still not finalized in all details. This may result in additional requirements from the manufacturing process or from a9> further aerodynamic tests arise. However, the appearance will not change significantly.
We have been thinking about the overdue change of name to TWIKE GmbH for some time now. Of course, all our obligations and contracts with customers and suppliers will remain valid even after the renaming. The globally protected brand, which has now also been integrated into the company name, provides TWIKE GmbH with a further sustainable basis for all upcoming developments.
